Ever wonder who is looking at your credit check and why? Well, wonder no more, we will provide you with some very valuable information you may or may not know regarding your credit report.

First let us look at what credit checks are. Basically they are the same as credit reports which are also referred to as credit bureau reports. These reports contain your credit history, tracking your debts and how you have paid them. All your information is collected by a credit bureau company; they gather information from the banks and other creditors, outlining the details of your accounts. Your report list when your account was open, what type of account it is (closed end loan or revolving credit), what your limit or high credit amount, what your payments are and how your account is paid and previously been paid. In other words, your credit report will contain any previous late payment. It will list the date when you were late and how many months your payment was late.

Your credit report will also contain personal information about you, including your names and alias’, current and previous addresses and employments, date of birth, social security number, and a list of each inquiry from the companies who have requested a credit check on you.

Now let us look at who is looking at your credit bureau report. Well, the most obvious is your bank or creditor whom you have applied for credit with, whether it is a loan or a credit card. But, did you know that your employer may do a credit check on you as well? Your credit report may determine whether or not you will get the job you have applied for. Also, if you are looking at renting a place, your landlord will also be looking into your credit reports. They will use the information in the credit checks to determine how you will pay your rent. And it is quite possible that if you apply for a life insurance policy, the company will also perform a credit report check on you.

So, as you can see it is very important for you to get personally involved with your credit bureau reports with all three of the major credit reporting agencies. It is your responsibility to make sure each of your reports are accurate and free of errors, so they do not prevent you from getting what you are seeking.
